    Hi,

I’ve been spending a lot of time researching which RC quadcopter with FPV real time transmission to buy. You look like you are very passionate about the topic!

I was looking at the Syma X5SW-1 Explorers 2 Wifi FPV 2.4G RC Quadcopter 2.0MP Camera RTF

    or the

HT F801C WIFI FPV Real Time Transmission 2.4GHz RC Quadcopter 4CH 6 Axis Gyro Eversion Flying Headless Mode UFO with 0.4MP Camera

the wind issues look like a problem to me. Should I be looking at a different one??

    Thanks in advance
    Julian

    Hi, I’m a beginner …
I saw your comment on the V666 RC groups and encouraged me to buy a V666N in Banggood. It still has not arrived.

I really like the H8 eachine but I’m not prove advisable as I am untrained.
What would be your recommendation for me?

I’m from Colombia, I am using Google translator.

    THANKS

    • admin says:

The H8 mini have a too fast yaw rate for beginner IMHO. I am always advised to start with a micro-size model equiped of prop guard/ You have many options: Hubsan X4, JXD 388/392, Yi Zhan X4, MJX X800, JJRC 1000A among them

  • BD350 says:

Hello, I was wondering if you could share a model config. for the Deviation firmware for a Devo 7E to control a JJRC H8C. I have looked everywhere and can’t find one and I saw in your review that you used a 7E. Thank you very much.

  • Popis says:

Hi, i watch your video of the qw350, and i am considering buying it. If i dont hava the cable that you show, I cant use the GPS Mode to stablize it? Does it comes with the gopro mount?
It comes ready to fly or I need to have the cable?
And the last thing, in that price range do you recomend another or that is good?
    I am beginer haha
    Thanks for your videos!

  • Popis says:

If you have to decide between the qw350 or the cheerson cx-20; which you will choose? Or another alternative of no more than $ 280???
    Thanks

    • admin says:

Hard to say I don’t have the CX-20 but it seems that the CX-20 is more a AP plateform while the QW350 a kind of FPV plateform for medium to high altitude. Anyway, I will install a G-2D gimbal to test its AP capacity…. I like the QW350 but it’s not an objective criteria sorry.

  • Mario Duenas says:

    Hi SeByDocKy,

I’d like to ask for help with my Cheerson CX-30w…I used my computer to connect to the drone’s WiFi, then I opened a web browser with the dron’es IP address and saw 3 fields that I was able to edit:

    Mode: Server / Client
    SSID
    Password

O changed the mode to “client” expecting the drone to connect to my home WiFi…but it didn’t work and now I can’t see the drone’s WiFi nor I can’t change any setting on the drone.

Do you konw how to factory reset the WiFi module??

    Thanks in advance.

    Greetings,

    Mario D.

    • admin says:

Really strange coz your modified parameters should impact only your Local WiFi set on your computer …. You did this change on the mobile app ?

  • Mario Duenas says:

I used my computer to connect to the drone’s WiFi and then I changed the drone’s setting using my computer (you could also do this on your smartphone’s browser and typing: 172.16.10.1 on the address bar… If all the CX-30w’s are the same, it looks like you can change the name of the WiFi for the drone but DON’T TRY THAT!) So the WiFi settings that I changed were the settings on the Drone and now my App is not finding the AP anymore.

I already sent an e-mail to all the e-mail that appeared on teh “contact us” web page of Cheerson but none of them have responded 🙁

    Thanks for your time.

    Greetings,

    Mario D

    • admin says:

I see …. 🙁 I guess, the new SSID is not broadcasting ?

      • Mario Duenas says:

Correct 🙁 I sent an e-mail to all the e-mail addresses on the “contact us” section of the Cheerson web page asking for help but, so far, they haven’t responded.

  • Tim says:

    Dear SeByDocKy,

Your videos and RC threads were the deciding factors in my purchase of a WLtoys V686G. I’m grateful for your expertise and enjoyable presentations. It’s a lot of fun learning to fly this quad and I’m thinking of purchasing 4 more batteries in addition to the two I’m using so I can spend more time in the air. Do you have any suggestions for a reasonably priced lipo charger that will handle multiple cells? Thanks in advance, and congratulations on your fine work. PS Your English is great!

    Hello,
Thank you for all those beautiful test 🙂
    Just some question

You order on Bang good or other site
    1. do you have some importation Taxes in your land? how much
    2. Don’t you have problem with Importation of Remote Control of big power transmitter camera ( with telecommunication authority)
(i believe in Belgium its not easy to receive an transmitter)
For this reason Bang good have a European warehouse ( but not so much stock)
    On advice please
With or Without FPV for a beginner drone (my sun 9 years old but very good and myself)
    For +- 100 € ???
    For 350 €-400€: Drone GPS X380 ???

    Dou you know : http://www.hobbyking.com/

    Thanks you

    • admin says:

      1) If you avoid fast shipping services (EMS, DHL, etc…) but just the regular free shipping, in FR in general you are avoiding custom taxes
      2) For toys, in general it’s not really checked. In practice, all these toys have the “CE” sign.
      3) You can try a WLtoys V686G without the FPV module first. Then try later in FPV mode. Order also a 1 CW and 1 CCW spare motors.
      4) Yes the XK X380 is a good choice as AP.
      5) Yes Hobbyking is #1 in WebRC shops

  • Andres Mauricio Escobar says:

    Hello.
    I again, Mauricio Andres Escobar.

    I need your advice…

In recent days I bought banggood a WLtoys V666N, thinking video platform inexpensive, but have disappointments, the picture is very poor and there is a lot of vibration.
I bought a camera xiaomi yi, which is recommended for use in my purpose of videotaping drone.
I have seen some drones with gimbal but which should not consider ….

    Thank you so much.

  • Mauricio Escobar says:

Hi, thanks for your attention. Sorry I can not communicate well, actually I spoke Spanish and I have to use google translator.
my question is: I have a camera Xiaomi Yi, and needed a quadcopter to put my Xiaomi camera and use it as aerial camera. It took quadcopter but acceptable medium or low cost.I had bought a WLToys V666N thinking that would for the job but is a disappointment. The video is of poor quality and high vibration. Thanks for your cooperation.

    It is advisable for you?

I also saw you make a firmware upgrade … Is that necessary?

    Thanks again.

    I have 2 hubsan x4 107C.
I would highly appreciate your expertise.

Hi, I’m a beginner and need some advice to choose my first drone

I real want a cheap but good drone, if it’s possible
After some reading, I selected these models:

    – JJRC H11D 5.8G FPV 2.0MP HD Camera 2.4G 4CH 6Axis Headless Mode RC Quadcopter RTF (http://www.banggood.com/JJRC-H11D-5_8G-FPV-2_0MP-HD-Camera-Headless-Mode-2_4G-4CH-6Axis-RC-Quadcopter-RTF-p-994589.html) which will be released shortly

    – WLtoys V686G

    – Syma X8C Venture with 2MP 5MP Wide Angle Camera 2.4G 4CH RC Quadcopter (http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X8C-Venture-with-2MP-5MP-Wide-Angle-Camera-2_4G-4CH-RC-Quadcopter-p-965758.html)

    Or another alternative
What would be your recommendation for me? I want to spend around 100€/120€

    Thanks in advance
    Manuel

    • SeByDocKy says:

First of all I will discart the DM007, what do you aime more FPV or a video plateform ?

      • Manuel Pinheiro says:

        FPV

        • SeByDocKy says:

Well … so the match is between the H8D and V686G or the Q222G. I should review the first soon but what I know now for all of the three, they used a protocol based
on a XN297 RFchip and the associated control range is not so fantastic (~60-70m out of the box). You can improve it a bit by modding the position of the RX antenna…
but it’s still far of the performance of the first edition of the V686G with the A7015/Flysky protocol. Unfortunatly, they moved to theese new RF chip to save a fraction of money in their production. So as you undersand, I can’t really advice one of this machine …. because you will have to do out the box some mods to extend the range, to increase to Field of View of the lens, etc…

  • Raymondorock says:

Hi first of all, I am a great fan of your reviews. You save us by buying things that doesn’t work or to matching up our skill level or purpose.

I have a question if I may. I can fly a WLToy v222 back to front, do anything with it. Now I like to get a new quad that can do two things. FPV (not sport flying but just cruise around). I like it to be able to take good 1080 video camera. In video taking mode, I am ok with lower video quality for FPV since when taking video, the live video feed will only be use to check camera angle. I ok with Mobius (with its own PFV kit that I saw somewhere) but if I can have the option to lift a gopro, that will be better. Since I like to be in the video myself, I prefer to have a quad that can do altitude hold, so at least I don’t have to focus on controlling the quad 100%. For this purpose, I don’t need to quad to be sporty. I want it to be steady and with decent range! My budget for the quad will be between 150 to 250 USD.

I have been looking at V666N, but I got a feeling that for heavy lifting, SYMA X8 will better as it has got better motors? X8 can’t do altitude hold so I am still not sure what is my best option. Flying X6/x8 seems too complicated to setup? Any suggestion? I have been looking for months but I cannot decide, except leaning towards on V666N which I am told I will need plenty of spare motors!
    Thanks!!

    Ray

    • SeByDocKy says:

In this case, I strongly advise the XK X380: http://www.banggood.com/XK-X380-X380-A-X380-B-X380-C-FPV-GPS-2_4G-1080P-HD-RC-Quadcopter-RTF-p-974720.html
Probably the coupon “8RCHOBBY” can save an extra 8% …. so it’s pretty close to your 250$ limit

      • Raymondorock says:

Hi, thanks so much for the recommendation. xk X380 has everything indeed. Best price compare to other GPS drone. However as Aussie dollar dropped so much recently, I just realize it may be out of my buddy when I get the full fpv kit and camera. I tried that coupon but the site won’t let me use it since it is on sale but at 6% discount only. What is the next level down? V666n with fpv is on only $200. It has a range problem due to cheaper chip set? If it can do the job j might have to live with it. X8C is a better drone if I can live with no altitude hold? Sorry to trouble you on all these question. If there are no good options, I will then try saving up for xk x380. Thx

        • SeByDocKy says:

In this case, I would recommand more the X8C, more stable and can carry easily a gopro

          • Raymondorock says:

Hi Seby, I have been giving Syma X8 a lot of thoughts. The only that stop me from getting it is that I do wish the ability for a 2D gimbal as I want that stablisation quality of the video. For X8C, I can see that Mobius with a plastic 2D gimbal will work thanks to your “how to” video. I however not sure if I want to go through those modifications myself. Not confident enough. Attached a GoPro might be easier but it will be way too heavy. So I am thinking, would it be possible to attach that Walkera Plastic Gimbal with the stock camera that comes with X8G? The weight should come in at ~165g which is doable? and if that works, it will be a cheap solution and require little mod on the Gimbal itself? Powering it can be an issue as the quad battery need to power both the gimbal and camera? I love to hear your opinion on this. Thanks!

          • SeByDocKy says:

The problem will be that the Stock X8G camera will be too light for a correct gimbal stabilization 🙁 … and the gimbal will be completly unstable unfortunatly…

        • Andres Mauricio Escobar says:

Hi, I hope not to be inopportune,
I’m similar to his search, a drone to put a camera action similar to Go Pro …. but it was owner V666N …
I will not recommend this drone (V666N) to put a camera action …
I say this based on my experience lived in my own case.

          • raymondorock says:

Thanks Andres and SeDyDocky. Reading the posting here, it seems vibration is the issue? I am guessing the camera is also a bit too heavy for V666N? If I am willing to settle for a Mobius camera, maybe it will work? I am however convince for a Gopro like camera, I need at least X8C, if I cannot afford XK X380

  • Andres Mauricio Escobar says:

Hello. I hope not to be so upset.
By now I have desired 600USD for purchase .. (X380, Gimbal, FPV system, battery, etc).
I can also expect to raise more money and buy this quad …

    Greetings and Salutations !!!

This 55 year old father of 2 is looking to buy his FIRST drone. Unfortunately, I’ve never operated anything that is RC so I know I need something easy. I’d like something with FPV so that when I DO master flying one, I can then start using FPV. Also, nothing mini or really small.

That being said, I really like the Holy Stone brand (based on Amazon ratings) but no one seems to mention them. Also, nothing small or mini and up to $200

Holy Stone X400C FPV RC Quadcopter Drone with Wifi Camera Live Video One Key Return Function Headless Mode 2.4GHz looks REALLY good !!!!

Lastly, where do you recommend I buy it from? All of the websites seem to indicate they come from China, take weeks to arrive and have poor customer support, if any.

    Your thoughts ???

    Thanks !

    • SeByDocKy says:

      Hi,
First of all avoid everything for FPV with WiFi. The problem with WiFi is the video signal shares the same 2.4G band with the radio control. Conclusion: both video and control are reduced due to their mutual interférences.
In FPV take a solution working @5.8G. For a beginner machine I would pick up more an Hubsan H107D+ or a WLtoys Q242 but too small for you… so Why not a WLtoys Q28g ?.

You can check out our site at customfpx.com for product photos. (It’s a pretty nice site, I wrote it myself :D)

  • Hello SeByDocKy,
I’ve tried to ask a question through YouTube a few weeks ago, so I’m hoping I’ll have better luck here. First though I want to thank you for your unselfish sharing of your knowledge and experience.
My question is about the antenna mod on the Devo 7e. The only question I have is about editing the hardware.ini file. I have the Deviation software, XR-Drone, setup by Patrick at XR-4Drone. There is no hardware.ini file to edit. You stated that if the file is not edited you stand the possibility of frying the tx module. I’ve been involved with antennas in one form or another for 40+ years, at times as part of a job, but mostly for hobby purposes. I’m from the analog world struggling to keep up in the digital world. I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the need/reasoning around having to do the editing of my non-existing hardware.ini file. Can you please explain to me the reasoning of the need for the editing. In my experience as long as the antenna circuit is balanced, then the SWR’s should be in the safe range keeping the tx from heating up and killing itself.
I really want the ability to change different antennas. I was told by Patrick that there is no hardware.ini file in Deviation, which I already had discovered, leaving me with no way of moving forward. Can you please give me advice on this problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

With this version, you have a hardware.ini to update according the RFchips you installed Inside your 7E. I never say that if you don’t edit this file you will cook you radio. I am just saying if you don’t edit and configure correctly
you won’t be able to access to the corresponding protocols.

      • I apologize for my miss-understanding of your antenna mod video.I watched it again and I think when you warned about not having an antenna load on the tx it could fry the tx. You had just said to change the” hardware ini” file and I mixed the two instructions together.
I’m relieved that I can do the antenna mod and it won’t hurt the tx. I never changed any RF chips in my TX, so I’m guessing not having the ability to edit my non-existant hardware.ini file would not make a difference even if I did have the file. The only hardware change done by Patrick at XR-4Drone was the diode mod to increase distance. Again thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience in these matters.

the other three works perfectly until now! So what do you think is happening whith the motor (burn out, brake inner Gear maybe, or rebind the quad again? And please tell me in case i’ll buy Spare parts (Are the motors same as (DM007) ???

Hi SeByDocKy, I was wondering, seeing the Hubsan H501 has a bigger battery, is there a way to use this battery in the 502E? or will the extra weight offset the balance ?

    Thanks in advance !

    Regards
    Cje

    • SeByDocKy says:

Unfortunatly, first it won’t fit the battery bay and second even if it would be possible, the extra weight will stress too much motors and die very fast. I won’t advise it
