NEWS: Eachine EV800D 5.8G 40CH 800×480 with Diversity and builtin DVR

Was expectable since Eachine are renewing all their goggles by integrating now a builtin DVR… Now it’s the turn of the excellent EV900 with the D version: https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EV800D-5_8G-40CH-Diversity-FPV-Goggles-5-Inch-800480-Video-Headset-HD-DVR-Build-in-Battery-p-1150119.html

Not only a full D1 PAL bultin DVR is added, but also the diversity !!!! You still have this possibility to split the goggles in two and the resolution remains a 800×480, so you can’t perfectly display a PAL source (720×576). The goggles chassis remain the same … a pretty good one, confortable enough. But No Fresnel lens distance ajustement 🙁 ..anyway, the screen is compatible with average myopia and the mask opening is compatible with glasses. The price is still attractive. The 2000mAh 1200mah builtin is advertized to offer close to 2h of usage… It’s pretty good… The builtin receivers are coupled with a circular RHCP (proximity range) and one hi gain biplanar antenneas (long range). The built PAL D1 (720×576) recorder is also announced to not have any frame lost…but quid about extra latency introduced when recording is turned on ? They announced two seperate chips for solve this problem… Must be checked in practice of course …. What about NTSC sources recordings (756×480) ? You have an AVin latterally.. Full OSD informations seems here … as well as a lot of screen ajustement settings via the menu.

I own EV800 from first batch and they are definitely good. The DVR was that thing what I wanted to have built in. And now it happened plus diversity too. Already preordered these… Banggood, you will broke me for sure 😀

Checked the specs again. Stick type power connector for charging… interesting, are they used 2S battery with built-in overcharge/discharge protection circuit (DM007 quad have these for example) or there are some kind of protection circuit? In second case I guess that the first mod will be a bigger battery 🙂 Well, seems before that I should buy stick connector and try to use one of my 4S 1800 mAh batteries through balance connector by one half at time (those batteries should be replaced to smaller 4S ones anyway, because they are too heavy for GX210 quad).

Got mine EV800D at yesterday. Comparing with EV800 same design, same resolution, better lens (Fresnel too but have better quality), diversity receiver with cloverleaf and showel antennas, DVR and AV IN (aka headphone out). It is possible to select only one antenna at time as well. 40 RF channels (32 + Raceband) – check. Main menu same as in EV800 with a new DVR entry. DVR menu in Chinese (waiting for English DVR menu as firmware upgrade begins). Still no dioptric correction (not for hard myopia owners). Face sponge installed by default – quite comfortable. Charging from 12V (I miss my USB charger), but in other side now we can use 2S and 3S LiPo batteries as field backup power. 12V charger works from both 110/220/240V 50/60 Hz AC. It have only US mains connector without European mains adapter – get it somewhere else. Weight 378.5 grams with cloverleaf antenna only and 398.1 grams with both antennas attached. Pay attention to head strap adjustment to match your head before first use.

In live flight I noticed simply amazing receiving quality due to diversity. Seriously – EV800 with one antenna had a good receiving, but this new one is something. Picture quality is also better because of new lens. In general the new googles are great. More impressions in this post

I hope that next revision of EV800D will have correct DVR menu language as is selected in main menu and charger will have attachable European mains adapter.
