NEWS: Happymodel Mantis85 (F4+OSD, 1102/9000Kv, 6A BLheli_S/Dshot600, AFHDS-2A, RTF)

We have a full carbon fiber glass based machine with a F4+OSD flight controller, a 6A 4-in-1 ESC BLheli_S/Dshot 600 ready board, 1102/9000Kv motors and a classic 600TVL CMOS 48CH/25mW AIO FPV module. The lens orientation can be manually ajusted. That’s a good point. Notice the bundle comes in RTF format with a FlySly AFHDS-2A solution. The machine standalone weights 50g and you will need to add around 20g with the 2S 400mAh LiPo. A buzzer is even here. From a first glance, no real major drawback in the design can be observed and the introduction price is super agressive 137USD !!! so close to be twice more cheaper than some SPCmaker products for example. Can be a very nice first FPV bundle. Wait & See.

    What could be a major drawback is the motor kv…
    As I remember 1103 were weak under 10000kv… what about 1102 9000kv?
    specially thinking of the 50g weight, which is the weight of a good 1103 with 20x20mm minicube…
    50g seems a little bit heavy for this machine and those motors… but let’s wait and see…

      Seems you are right. Q101 already reviewed it and found it a bit ‘weak” in 2S configuration…. I should grab relatively soon for review. So Wait & See.

    but one question.. do you know what could be wrong when the mantis won’t self-leveling in Angle Mode?? it behaves like in acro mode. I tried some accel. calibrations but for example when you steer to the left, the drone maintains that direction or inclination and you have to level out by yourself.

      Are you sure the angle mode is selected with you switch position ? check in betaflight.
      Did you push the F4 too fast? Check in the main configuration is the acceleratometer is not disable

        yes I’ve also disabled the airmode and enable only the angle mode. what do you mean by pushing the f4 too fast?
        and do you mean the main configuration (point 3) in betaflight? where can I activate the acc?
        I’ve also imported the original dump file, which you’ve uploaded on this site.
        and also tried firmware betaflight 3.2.2 but it still flies like it’s in airmode. absolutely no auto leveling.
        when I enable airmode (aux 2) the motors starts to spin slowly when the throttle is at zero.

          I mean of you set the PID loop too fast (> 8Khz) for example, it may happen than the MPU can work correctly at such speed.
          When you connect to betaflight, can you see the two accelero & gyro logos active on top central part of the configuration page ?

            Hi,
            i found out that the factory settings from Happymodel (dump file) didnt work for me… I had to adjust the airmode in “modes” and lowered the beginning of the range. now everything is fine :)))))
