Xiami will introduces a new quadcopter…. not an advanced video plateform as we could expect, but more a super compact brushed 720p WiFi machine:

It’s compact, a little bit less than 100mm. The video signal is broadcasted in 720p format via WiFi. In term of stabilization… only done by a simple altimeter. No extra VPU. 10mins of flight time are promised. Finally as extra feature, the possibility to produce a IR battle with different MiTu. If no EIS is here, I didn’t see any real interest for this machine
versus all other 720p WiFi toyquadcopters.

    Toy drone

  • Andreas says:

Yes, it is in fact a toy drone, but that’s what it is for 🙂

Here’s something most people don’t know: The drone will fire up a WiFi network at 5.8 GHz, which is not supported in many countries and phones and was originally used for remote control devices only. If you choose to get one, make sure your phone supports 5.8 GHz networks… 5 GHz is not the same 🙂

    • SeByDocKy says:

Well in fact…. it’s a bit more complex. Clearly some 5G/5.8G channels are authorized according to the area you are living. Typically chineses 5G/5.8G FPV machines prefer to have frequencies compatible with CN/US but in this case these freq are not allowed in EU. There is no magic 5G/5.8G channels compatible simultaneously for CN/US/EU…. so it’s either CN/US or CN/EU…… So even if your phone supports 5G… if you are living in EU and you have an android… the risk is high that these channels won’t be seen…. One trick is to remove the SIM card…. forget all WiFi channels ….stored…. and rerun the WiFI scan… sometimes it can works. Of course ideally would be a button on the quad to cycle between US/CN and EU/CN channels
