TEST: EACHINE TX01, the FXT FX798T 25mW FPV-cam competitor

null

INTRODUCTION

The FXT FX798T is probably the lightest 25mW FPV cam ideal for the tiny whoop FPV machine. Here with the Eachine TX01, we have a direct competitor cheaper and announced to be 4.5g.

BOX CONTENT

null

+ 1 x Eachine TX01
+ 1 x Cable 1.25 miniJST-microLOSI connector
+ 1 x Instruction manual (English)

OVERVIEW

Like many FPV-cam micro model, the TX01 is based on two PCB layers. One for the camera, the second for the VTX. Both are linked with two connectors.

null

A direct comparaison with the TX02, the 200mW version

null

Only a small PA chip is present on the top of the TX02

null

Unfortunatly for both, the antenna is fixed on a piece of PCB not bendable and potentially breakable.

The TX01 is much more smaller than MC01

null

The classic RTC6705 FM modulator is here

null

On top a unique button to select the Vfreq and if pressed more than 3s the band selection is active. Then press shortly to cycle between frequency bands.

null

Weight

4.7g … so 0.2g more heavier than advertized especially with the uncased FX798T (4.3g)

null

If you reduce a bit the length of wires, you can save some fraction of grams

null

Installed on a Eachine E010, the total weight exceed 25g with the original TX01 plyg

null

and reaches 25g after the lead connector reduction

null

UNBOXING & TESTING

The TX01 have super vivid colors and despite the 1 lux annouced, the light sensitivity and WDR is more than honest.

A range test

No problem, 150m can obtained, a super range for a 25mW model. The 25mW don’t warm at all 🙂

CONCLUSIONS

No as light as the FXT FX798 uncased (4.7g vs 4.3g) and maybe with a lower light sensitivity but generally the TX01 is a super and cheaper competitor/alternative. Associated with a Eachine E010, you can grab a Tinywhoop close twice time cheaper.

PROS

+ Great range for a 25mW
+ Efficient sensor handling well light transitions
+ Builtin CL antenna
+ 40CH
+ Cheaper than FXT FX798

CONS

– 4.7g so still heavier than the FXT FX798
– No PAL format
– Fragile Cloverleaf antenna
– No flip/rotation option

This FPV-cam have been courtesy provided by Banggood in order to make a fair and not biased review. I would like to thank them for this attitude.
You can find it actually for 26USD at http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-TX01-Super-Mini-AIO-5_8G-40CH-25MW-VTX-600TVL-14-Cmos-FPV-Transmitter-p-1088374.html

    HI, Seb,
I preordered it last summer, and I got it for a fair price. It’s more convenient than the QX90 cam, because it has the Raceband, but I find the quality of the transmission, the range not as good.
But yes, it is way better than the MC01.
I have another concern, I put it in a tiny quad with 1104 motors… like a hundred grams, and I’ve the impression that it draws a lot of current… Did you notice anything like this? Can yo check it somehow?
    Thanks for your review,

Well for me the 25mW don’t draw too much even if I didn’t really measure amperage …. I managed to have to close 3min with the E010 on diet and the original and partially damaged 150mAh LiPo.
